Yay! The Return of the Signature Graphic

Just testing this out. I finally got my signature graphic uploaded to Picasa so I can use it in the posts here. It used to reside on my website which is gone over a year now. I'm so happy to have it back.

Update

I'm thrilled beyond measure by the new template editing available now in Blogger Draft which includes 3-column template customization. In fact, you can customize both the body's columns and the footer's columns. I still need to fiddle with the header because I widened the body, and will play a bit with the background color, but right now, this is all done by clicking and drag and drop. No more dipping into the template to get things so flexible. So easy! And fun!

Meanwhile, I'm reading a long science fiction novel, so it will likely be a while before I get another review up here.

Yet More Sprucing Up

Previous sprucing up was close but not quite right. I think this is closer. I restored the title by dropping the header element and restoring the old header graphic. It looks okay in Firefox, less okay in IE, but it will do for now. I widened the content wrapper and the main section and IE doesn't seem to render the change the same way as Firefox does and I'm not css literate enough to figure it out. So this will do for now. I reserve the right to change it all again later. But for now, your feed subs should say Shelly's Book Shelf again.

Oh, and go pet Steinbeck in the footer. Feed him a bone. He gets lonely sometimes.

Spruce Up

Well, I did it. Or rather, someone else did it. I found a 3-column hack for beta Blogger over on Hackosphere and since there were 3 sample full templates that needed customizing and one of them was Denim which I like, I just used that and fiddled, copying and pasting bits from my old template into the new one.

I've only begun tagging my posts here. I did a bunch to get the page element in so I can see how it looks and I'll slowly finish the job over the next day or so. I'm considering what to use for reviews and things. I guess "reviews," but I'm thinking of also adding categories for authors I read a lot, maybe genres of the books reviewed, and so on. If you have any thoughts on useful categories here, just leave a comment.

I hope folks like the place. Unlike my other beta-ized blogs where I swapped out the header, I kept this one because I wanted the side corners, titled the blog in Blogger with a subtitle, then added the header graphic above it for the actual title. It shows the subtitle in my dashboard, but that's okay. I know which blog it is. ;)

I might fiddle some more, add some things back to the right sidebar to help balance it with the left one, but for now, I think it works nicely. Let me know what you think. And I hope you like it.
