New Blog
Yes, a new one. Sorta. Actually, I decided to put my Book Journal online. I've just started typing in my reading, so bear with me; this will take a while. I started my hardcopy journal back in 1965!
What a great idea - I've never kept a Book Journal and with the amount I read I probably should! Have already seen a couple that I keep meaning to pick up on your list! I think my wishlist will grow by the time you finish adding!
I started keeping the journal because my 6th grade teacher had us do it (that's where the start date of 1965 came from) and I liked it so kept doing it.
I started my book journal October 11, 1987. It has gone from being a collection of 3X5 cards to an excel spreadsheet that I have backed up on three different types of media. I LOVE BOOKS!
I've thought about doing an Excel chart so I could search by title or author, but the blog seemed more fun. Maybe I'll do it after I finish the blog and copy and paste from there.
Somebody gave me a reading journal when I was a kid. Each page had a space for the title, and author of each book and the date I read it, as well as space for a review. When I finished that one, I just started buying blank journals and filling in the info myself. I read 95 books last year. How do I know? The book journal of course!
Wow, 95 books. I haven't come close to that since 6th grade, when I started keeping track for school and read 110 (most of which I apparently didn't write into the blank book years later).
Yeah, well, big numbers are great except that I didn't read lots of great books because I knew they would take too long and lower my "score". My rate this year, is much slower. And I'm reading some awesome books (i.e. Middlemarch and Dr. Zhivago). I plan to squeeze in The Crimson Petal and the White and maybe an Edward Rutherfurd? There's a lot less pressure this way.
I have The Crimson Petal and the White. I think that will be one of the books I read after I retire in 7 years. Otherwise, it'll probably take me half a year to read it. :)
Wonderful idea. I'm enjoying going through your list. I kept a book journal for 5 or 6 years and moved to an excel spreadsheet. It's just easier for me to keep track that way.

ReplyDeleteThat's great. Care to share the titles?
