Library Thing

I had some time last night to explore a bit more on Library Thing, where I currently have 88 of my books. As soon as I reach the 200 books max for a basic account, I'll pay for an upgrade. I love the site. I know there are others, but LT has a lot of librarians on it and I heard about it first. It probably is the first or close to it of the social networking book sites.

I visited some of the groups I'd joined and it was a lot of fun. I've missed message boards that are relatively easy to navigate with a lot of people posting things that interest me about books and reading. I feel as if I've found a new online home. Or come home.

I'm ShellyS over there. I might've asked before, but it's worth repeating. If you're on LT, drop a comment here with your name there. :)

  2. Hi, Chasida,

I joined the science fiction group, a comics group, the librarians on LT group, and the bloggers group. I think the genre groups might be the best way to start. I was able to find a few topics to jump into. The discussions seemed very good.

I discovered LibraryThing on Saturday and LOVE it! I have already catalogued 300+ books with 2+ bookshelves to go!

  4. Hi, Joey,
You're going faster than I am. I'm still a bit under 200 books. And I have rooms of books to go. I've barely started on the den and there's the back hallway and the living room, plus a bookcase of children's books in the bedroom, most of which don't have ISBNs/barcodes.

    It is fun, tho.

  5. Hi, Shelly! I'm jillmwo over at LT and the URL to my blog is listed on my profile. I'm a lifetime member, but only have about 660 books captured there.

I use the site alot for both cataloging purposes as well as discovering unfamiliar book blogs, such as yours.

  6. Hi, Jill,
Good to *meet* you! I gave up adding books to LT from my reading journal because I kept getting hung up on which edition. So I'm trying to do it by shelf now and will need to get that barcode scanner. I'm really enjoying the site.

  7. I love library thing... and I keep meaning to upgrade my account (I hit my limit of 200 in an hour) but I just never seem to get around to it... I'll have to write myself a note.

  8. I don't have 200 yet, but that's because it takes a lot of time to type in titles and try to find the right edition. I need that scanner.
